Which Laws Protect Pedestrians?

Texas laws state that drivers must yield right-of-way to pedestrians in cross walks if there is no traffic control signal, the pedestrian is on the half of the roadway in which the driver is traveling, and if the pedestrian is approaching from the opposite side of the road but close enough to be in danger of hitting them.  Additionally, drivers are required to “exercise due care to avoid colliding with a pedestrian on a roadway; give warning by sounding the horn when necessary; and exercise proper precaution on observing a child or an obviously confused or incapacitated person on a roadway.”
